The Preschool classroom encourages socialization, dramatic play, sharing and cooperation. Using weekly themes, the activities offered give the opportunity to grow in literacy & language, math, science, music, creativity and physical development.
The Preschoolers will have a structured daily schedule based on NAEYC's statement of Developmentally Appropriate Practice and Minnesota's Early Learning Standards. Ms. Sherri will adapt activities, as needed, to fit the learning abilities of individual children. She also understands the needs of children to direct their own activities with in the structured schedule, and allow for freedom of movement, expression, and exploration.
The children in this classroom will have slightly longer group times and will practice "attending" during group activities, within the realm of their abilities. They will have access to age-appropriate games and educational computer programs when available, and will also have the opportunity to participate in field trips.
