Learn & Play Daycare Center provides a caring, nurturing environment for children while parents are away. Caregivers strive to create strong bonds with each child through talking and listening at the child's comfort level, affection, eye contact, and affirmation. Research indicates that children thrive in an environment where their physical and emotional needs are met. We want all children in our Center to feel secure and loved by their care providers.
Our program offers a developmentally appropriate environment that nurtures all children physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Structured activities are balanced with free-play to give children the opportunities they need for learning, as well as time to freely express themselves. Children who are occupied in relevant and meaningful activities will be less likely to exhibit behavioral problems, thus a child's self-esteem and confidence is fostered.
We provide an age-appropriate structured daily schedule based on the National Association for the Education for Young Children's (NAEYC) statement of Developmentally Appropriate Practice. The NAEYC is dedicated to improving the well-being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8. NAEYC is committed to becoming an increasingly high performing and inclusive organization.
Founded in 1926, NAEYC is the world's largest organization working on behalf of young children with nearly 90,000 members, a national network of over 300 local, state, and regional Affiliates, and a growing global alliance of like-minded organizations.
HighScope by Hohmann, Weikart, and Post is a second curriculum that is used in conjunction with NAEYC, so that each child's unique educational needs are able to be met.
HighScope Educational Research Foundation is an independent nonprofit research, development, training, and public outreach organization with headquarters in Ypsilanti, Michigan. HighScope's mission is to lift lives through education. They, along with Learn & Play, envisions a world in which all educational settings use active participatory learning so everyone has a chance to succeed in life and contribute to society.
Our teachers also understand the needs of children to direct their own activities within the structured schedule, and allow for freedom of movement, expression, and exploration. After all, playing is learning.
